How to Monitor a Vultr VX1 Cloud Compute Instance

Monitor your Vultr VX1™ Cloud Compute instance using the Customer Portal or API to track performance, bandwidth, and real-time resource utilization.


Monitoring a VX1™ Cloud Compute instance helps you track its performance, health, and resource utilization. It provides detailed insights into metrics such as vCPU usage, disk operations, and bandwidth consumption, allowing you to analyze trends and optimize your instance’s performance.

Follow this guide to monitor a Vultr VX1™ Cloud Compute instance using the Vultr Customer Portal or API.

Vultr Customer Portal

  1. Navigate to Products and click Compute.
  2. Click your target Vultr VX1™ Cloud Compute instance to open its management page.
  3. Navigate to the Usage Graphs tab to monitor the instance’s usage statistics.
  4. Monitor the instance’s bandwidth usage statistics within the Monthly Bandwidth section.
  5. Monitor the instance’s performance statistics within the Server Monitors section.
  6. Click the Range drop-down to select a specific timeframe and view the monitoring information in the following categories:
    • vCPU Usage: Displays the vCPU usage statistics.
    • Disk Operations: Displays the read and write operations per second on the primary storage disk.
    • Network: Displays the instance’s networking statistics in bytes.

Vultr API

  1. Send a GET request to the List Instances endpoint and note your target instance’s ID.

  2. Send a GET request to the Instance Bandwidth endpoint to fetch the instance’s bandwidth usage statistics.
